DC Olympic Team to Torino?
Published by Jonathan January 26th, 2006 in Sports, Washington DCThis is awesome. It is fairly common knowledge that residents of the District of Columbia have only one non-voting senator and no representation in congress. Hence the “No taxation without representation” motto you will find on DC licence plates.
What you may not know is that three other U.S. territories have the same amount of say in federal government as DC residents do: Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands - AND those three territories have their own delegations to represent them in the Olympics!
The recently formed District of Columbia Olympic Committee is bringing attention to all of this by trying to get into the 2006 Winter Olympics. They have put together a team compete in only one sport so far… curling!
This is awesome. If actually lived in DC (instead of one mile outside) I would totally hook up with these guys and gals.

This is SO cool! Why not? Can they legally accept tax-deductable donations yet???
