Arriving Somewhere

Weta Workshop, the company that did all of the special effects for The Lord of the Rings, has Neon Genesis: Evangelion listed on their current projects page. This is exciting news for anime fans as Evangelion is one of the most popular and controversial shows out there. Evangelion is one of my all-time personal favorites and I can’t wait to see some of it made into a live-action movie.

Weta has been designing a live-action adaptation of Neon Genesis: Evangelion. The film is on hold but it is Weta’s hope that it will enjoy getting to work on the film production of this amazing story in the near future.

The site also has concept drawings from the Weta artists. It will take some time getting used to seeing the characters as live ‘people’, but the Evas look fantastic. I hope that if this film does go forward it will get the treatment it deserves. Evangelion has such a complex story, many layers of symbolism and very complex characters. If the parties involved offer anything less than 100% support, the film shouldn’t be made.
